Today we were greeted with wonderful weather for our run to The Chairmans rural retreat at Mangalore. A number of members were DNS including Tim (T series ), John (James Young), Greg & Bruce, and Wayne and Robyn. Our thoughts and love are with both Wayne & Robyn.
After a quick tour of the gardens at Coombes Cottage the convoy left for the 212km drive, which included various secondary roads. Our thank you to Ray Delaney for providing the instructions and mapping. The route included the Kinglake, Yea and Seymour area.
On arrival we were welcomed by the farm's caretaker who had the gardens in full bloom, the lawns where green, various chairs and tables set up, and the kettle on for afternoon tea. Thank you to Ralph and Margaret for providing the Ferguson Plarre cakes .
The BYO style day worked well, smiles all-round as we all chatted, ate, drank and enjoyed the company. In the future we have more planned as various members have farm properties. So a nice mix BYO and sit down winery events to follow.
